Modern Structural Engineering Design using Eurocodes

Session Leader in Beijing and Shanghai
Prof. Kwok-Fai CHUNG, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong SAR, China.

Eurocodes are a set of harmonized structural codes developed by the European Committee for Standardisation for structural design of buildings and bridges within the European Union. The primary purpose of the Eurocodes is to establish comprehensive requirements as well as effective design methods on strength, stability and durability of infrastructures. By March 2010, the Eurocodes are mandatory for the specifications of European public works, and they are also intended to become the de-facto standards for the private sectors. Currently, there is a growing interest worldwide, especially in many Asian countries, to adopt the Eurocodes, providing new opportunities and markets for international construction projects.

In this session, effective applications of Structural Eurocodes together with their practical advantages will be thoroughly illustrated by world renowned researchers and engineers.
